About Olivia

Coach, facilitator, and the person asking the questions you forgot you needed to hear.

The short version

I am Olivia Fenn, a certified life coach based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I have been coaching professionally since 2019, though the work started informally long before that. I hold an ICF Associate Certified Coach credential and completed my training through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).

Before coaching, I spent eight years in human resources at a mid-size tech company in Victoria. I was the person people came to when they were burned out, confused about their next move, or wondering if they should quit. Eventually I realized I was doing informal coaching all day, badly, and decided to get trained and do it properly.

How I work

My coaching style is direct. I am not going to let you talk in circles for 55 minutes and then say something vaguely encouraging in the last five. I listen carefully, I name what I hear, and I ask questions designed to move you forward rather than keep you comfortable.

That said, I am not a drill sergeant. I believe strongly that people know their own answers. My job is not to tell you what to do. It is to help you hear what you already know but have been drowning out with noise, overthinking, or fear of getting it wrong.

I draw on somatic awareness, values clarification, acceptance-based practices, and straightforward goal-setting. I am not married to any single modality. I use what works for the person in front of me.

Who I tend to work with

Not everyone needs a coach. I work best with people who:

Are in transition

Career changes, relationship endings, geographic moves, identity shifts. The moments where the old map no longer matches the territory and you need to draw a new one.

Feel stuck but functional

Life looks fine on paper. Job, relationships, health are all okay. But something feels flat. You are going through motions without direction or meaning.

Want accountability

You know what you need to do. You have read the books, done the reflection. What is missing is someone to hold you to it, gently and consistently.

Prefer depth over speed

Quick fixes do not interest you. You want to understand yourself better and make changes that hold. You are willing to sit with discomfort if it leads somewhere real.

Credentials

ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC). CTI Co-Active Coaching certification. 500+ coaching hours logged. Somatic Experiencing introductory training. Regular supervision with a PCC-level mentor coach.

I take continuing education seriously. I complete at least 30 hours of coach-specific training every year, well above the ICF minimum.
