DEFINITION OF REIKI
To define Reiki, we need to look at both parts of the word: Rei and Ki.
We have come to understand that Rei speaks to Divine Wisdom, and as such, is the source of all that is known. ‘It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows how to heal them.’1
The second part, Ki, means energy or Chi. In the last century, the Western world has learned much about Eastern philosophies, and we are now very familiar with Chi as energy. Chi or energy exists in everything – all that we think – do – feel – speak – act upon
Combining the syllables together to form the word Reiki, we come to understand the energy originates with Source, is all-knowing, is gentle and powerful, and knows exactly where it is needed, and begins to heal immediately.
Reiki is a type of healing energy that is channelled by a Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master. These individuals have been attuned to the Reiki energy, and to Reiki symbols, connecting with the Divine Source.
It is also my belief that Reiki is an emotional, physical, and spiritual experience, and as such is truly a holistic approach to well-being.
